Director, Cross Sector Leadership and Facilitation

Department: LEADERSHIP AND WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT
Location: Arlington, VA

Summary:  ASTHOís Leadership Development team is seeking a strategic and creative Cross Sector Leadership Director responsible for developing innovative learning offerings and improving existing offerings for ASTHOís Leadership Development portfolio. Must be skilled in adult learning principles, effective instruction approaches, needs analysis, consulting, agile methods, in-person and virtual facilitation techniques, and interactive design.

Principal Functions:

  • Design end to end learning solutions (e-learning, instructor-led: face to face and virtual) that incorporate best practices in adult learning theory, and leadership.
  • Function as a master facilitator of Boundary Spanning Leadership to coach, implement sessions and work with external partners to offer consistent leadership and development activities.   
  • Manage stakeholders and subject matter experts in the content development process, ensuring alignment, engagement, and expectation management.
  • Execute and oversee contracts for external consultants and contractors. 
  • Analyze program effectiveness and recommends continuous improvement methods, ensuring they are innovative and providing tangible value to end-users. Develop reports on program effectiveness and make recommendations for program enhancements and improvements.
  •  Serve as a thought leader and subject matter expert in learning experience design.
  • Design and implement proactive communication and change management plans to program goals are met.
  • Scope and estimate level of effort for project deliverables. Provide strong project management strategies to align with ASTHOís Leadership Development portfolio
  • Develop all relevant materials related to program roll-out, including learner materials, pilots, and facilitator enablement.
  • Conduct independent research and interviews with subject matter experts and translate findings into clear and compelling learning content.
  • Create and review assessment tools and customized learning plans used for participants. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • At least 5 years of experience overseeing leadership programs for senior leaders.
  • Masterís degree in organizational development, leadership training and development or a related field.
  • Deep knowledge of adult learning theory.
  • Exceptional writing and storytelling skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a team and switch gears due to the demand of the business in order to meet new deadlines.
  •  A strong portfolio that showcases virtual and face-to-face leadership offerings (design through implementation).
